About the Ceremony

The ceremony for the wedding will be held at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene. The ceremony will be in the Anglo-Catholic (sometimes also called High Anglican) tradition.

We developed a theme for the service early on. Our lessons (readings from the Bible) and hymns selected are centred on the theme our hope for the future is in Christ. We wanted to centre on this message as we contemplate the future, and the way the lessons of Jesus Christ can centre lives of faithfulness and service to the rest of humanity.

The ceremony and service will last approximately 90 minutes, and will include a celebration of Eucharist. The church will provide details on this in a leaflet on the day, but all who are baptized in any Christian tradition may receive if they are moved to do so. We encourage all guests to come up to the rail and receive a blessing (you may signal that you only wish to receive a blessing by crossing your arms, palms to shoulders).

We intend to use congregational singing without a choir. In the next several weeks, we will distribute song selections via this site so that strong singers can help us by learning the music. The music will otherwise be accompanied by the Healey Willan Organ at SMM.
